Cat. #0017812: MUSIDORA

Ultra-, ultra-rare vintage black fountain pen signature as part of the return address given on the back of a pierce of personal correspondence. In good condition. Just the third example of her autograph we have seen in 30 years. Note that the images of the star shown here alongside the scan of the autograph is not included. Gorgeous, iconic French actress Musidora, considered her country's answer to Theda Bara during the silent era, is remembered by cinemaphiles for her portrayals of Ima Vep in Louis Feuillade's crime serial Les Vampires  (1915-1916) and Marie Verdier in Judex (1916). These avant-garde films were lauded by Louis Aragon, Andre Breton, Fritz Lang, Luis Bunuel, Georges Franju, Alain Resnais, and Olivier Assayas majorly impacting their own work, and pioneering a new form of cinema, with their elements of science fiction and fantasy, unexpected juxtapositions and visual surrealism. All were NUTS about Musidora. And so are we!
